  • About the Web Credibility Project As part of the, we are investigating such questions as: What causes people to believe (or not believe) what they find on the Web? What strategies do users employ in evaluating the credibility of online sources? What contextual and design factors influence these assessments and strategies? How and why are credibility evaluation processes on the Web different from those made in face-to-face human interaction, or in other offline contexts? • (Links to individual reports) General Introduction to the Newstead Research Project The Newstead Research Project is investigating the region surrounding the Roman fort of Trimontium near Newstead, on the River Tweed in the Borders region of southern Scotland

  • Its importance seems to have been similar in antiquity, with one of the two biggest of Scotland's hillforts, Eildon Hill North, lying very near Trimontium, and some 150 settlement sites known in the 25 x 25 km area of the Research Project's survey region

  • The Project's aims are threefold: to upgrade the level of archaeological knowledge of settlement sites in the region, including Trimontium, to provide an improved basis for heritage management and protection policies

  • The Project has thus completed ten separate excavations, and the geophysical survey of more than 40 sites in the core survey area, all but c.5 of the available sites there, normally by both resistivity and magnetometry
