While some of that is knee-jerk anti-Microsoftism, FrontPage 98 earned whipping boy status with nasty code mangling and bloat, IE-only compliance and dependence on proprietary FrontPage server extensions
With FrontPage 2000, Microsoft has tried to address the concerns of serious developers while retaining and expanding their core audience
And this release is significantly better all around - the bone-headed code bloat is gone, there's far less dependence on FrontPage server extensions, and the odious FrontPage Web Server (you had to install it on your hard drive) is history
In either case, Microsoft no longer need hang its head in shame: the horrors of FrontPage 98 are no more

Ok, Frontpage works like this when you want to publish files: It tries to GET 'http://www.yourdomain.com/_vti_inf.html'
When you use Frontpage to upload content, it will try and fetch this file, if it can, it then tries to POST to 'http://www.yourdomain.com/_vti_bin/shtml.exe/_vti_rpc' (that's the default)
If you have any people using Frontpage, it's likely that they FTPed the _vti_inf.html from their home machine up to your site

Death to Proprietary Word Formats
Argues in favor of using HTML instead of proprietary word formats.
My favorites are Allaire HomeSite (written in Delphi), Microsoft FrontPage, and HotMetal Pro
Occasionally I have to wrestle a bit with HotMetal, but both FrontPage and HomeSite are at least as easy to use as Word, and are in many ways superior products
FrontPage even has many of the advanced features of Word, such as automatically underlining misspelled words! In fact, HomeSite has the same feature
Open Formats: The Real "WYSIWYG" As everyone knows, the letters WYSIWYG, pronounced whizzy-wig, stands for "what you see is what you get." HomeSite, FrontPage and HotMetal are all WYSIWYG editors, meaning that you don't have to type in the codes for HTML, but rather you can just type normally, as you would in Word, and the necessary codes are inserted when needed to make your code bold, normal, italic, etc
I can remember carefully formatting an HTML document in nice, neatly laid out code, then opening it once in FrontPage
HomeSite, FrontPage and HotMetal all turn out HTML that looks pretty much exactly the way I would want it to look were I crafting it myself by hand
For those concerned about the third point, I recommend FrontPage, which is very similar to Word in terms of look and feel
