Dear Deer
An anti-speciesist project includes Letters to deer on animal rights and acts of
speciesism.
April 02, 2004 About Dear Deer Dear Reader, Why, you may ask, are you reading someone else's letters? Who is writing them, and why? What would a deer want with mail? Ever since I was very small, I was taught the golden rule: I should do unto others as I would have them do unto me
And so, giving them — all of them, from bees to fish to chickens to rabbits to pigs to deer to tigers to whales — the benefit of the doubt, I do unto them as I would have them do unto me
So: Imagine for a moment that you are a deer
If we are going to abandon speciesism as we have (hopefully) abandoned racism and sexism, we have to ask ourselves: If we were deer, would we want humans to treat us like this? These letters are not for deer, but for you and me
Deer can not use computers and they can not read
Even a dying deer with a bullet in her heart can not understand the enormity of what has been done and is being done to her species
Deer have no way to protect themselves, to band together and cry out for justice, to hide their children and their boyfriends and girlfriends and their parents and their friends and keep them safe

Save Albino Deer -&--&- Help Save Our Albino And White Deer And ...
Features information about albino, white, and piebold deer.
Save Albino Deer Help Save Our Albino And White Deer And Wildlife Why I Started This Site My story begins in the summer of 1999, when I saw my first albino deer
At first glance I thought my neighbors had bought a new white horse, until I saw more whitetail deer all around her
Still I tried to figure out for sure if she was really a deer, so I watched for her almost every day
And when I saw her she always came with other deer
Although a few of the states who don't have laws protecting white deer, do have laws protecting other white animals
Some Information About Albino, White, And Piebald Deer In my quest for information about my albino deer I found out that there is a difference between an albino deer and a white deer
An albino deer is solid white, has pink eyes and nose, and greyish colored hooves
A white deer is solid white but has normal colored eyes, nose and hooves
A piebald deer has some amount of white, but not 100% white, and has normal pigment in their eyes, nose, and hooves
Albino deer births are estimated in statistical studies to be 1 in 30, 000
This is also the reason that adult albino deer have a life expectancy of only 3 to 4 years
Lehman's Fallow Deer Farm - Pritchard BC Canada
Site contains recipes, pictures, and information about deer farming.
We have been farming fallow deer since 1989 and have 65 does
Before buying deer our experience had been with cattle and sheep and it wasnt long before we learned that raising fallow deer is a totally new ball game
Unlike cattle and sheep the fallow deer have their babies with no help from us and do much better on their own
They need far better fencing since if the fence wont hold water chances are it wont hold deer either
The same predators that endanger our sheep are dangerous for the deer
We still have to keep a watch for cougars, eagles, coyotes and bears although with the deer fencing bears are seldom much of a problem
The deer have their young later in the spring which lessens the risk of the fawns being lost because of late wintery weather

Includes the former US President's experiences hunting and coursing in the West.
From Chapter XI, The Ranchman's Rifle on Crag and Prairie.
From April to August antelope are the game we chiefly follow, killing only the bucks; after that season, black-tail and white-tail deer
The deer stay with us all the time; but they are now in poor condition, the does heavy with fawn and the bucks with ungrown antlers
Many more cartridges are spent, in proportion to the amount of game killed, in hunting antelope than is the case while after deer, elk, or sheep
Antelope see much better than deer, their great bulging eyes, placed at the roots of the horns, being as strong as twin telescopes
On the other hand, there is never the least difficulty about seeing them; for they are conspicuous beasts, and, unlike deer, they never hide, being careless whether they are seen or not, so long as they can keep a good lookout
Although ordinarily harder to get at than deer, they are far more frequently killed in what may be called accidental ways
They have not only learned to climb and take to the hills, but, what is even more singular, have intruded on the domain of the elk and the deer, frequently making their abode in the thick timber, and there proving the most difficult of all animals to stalk
